The precocious winger was a product of City’s fertile youth scheme in the late 1970s. His chance came when Tommy Hutchison left and Peter grasped the opportunity and put in some outstanding performances as City’s young team reached the League Cup semi-finals - his magnificent goal in the 5-0 quarter final replay win over Watford was top-class. Never a shrinking violet he announced to the media that ‘Bodak is the name, scoring is my game’ but sadly his glory was short-lived. The following season he struggled to get a game under Dave Sexton but did score with a sublime chip at Maine Road in the FA Cup which was rightly deservedly voted BBC’s goal of the season. Released in 1982 he was briefly on Manchester United’s books, left Manchester City after a breach of discipline and also played for Swansea, Crewe, Walsall as well as spells in Belgium and Hong Kong.
