A Bobby Gould signing, in the summer of 1993, from Stockport County for £150,000. The speedy left-back had impressed with County but had stiff competition at Coventry from Steve Morgan and his first team appearances were limited. In his two years at Coventry he spent significant periods out on loan at West Brom and Huddersfield. After David Burrows’ arrival in March 1995 he found himself relegated to third choice left-back and he signed for Plymouth that summer, appearing against the Sky Blues in an FA Cup game in his first season. His form was such that he was voted into the PFA third division team that season and over the next three seasons he appeared almost 150 times for the Pilgrims. Later he had spells with Gillingham and Bury before dropping into non-league with Leigh RMI. Paul later worked at Wolverhampton Wanderers’ academy.
