One of a number of homegrown youngsters given a first team chance by Gary McAllister towards the end of the disastrous 2002-03 season. With money tight and under performing senior players Gary had little option but to throw the kids into the firing line and with few exceptions it did not work. Mark had played in Richard Money’s 2000 FA Youth Cup final team and looked a promising midfield player. Mark came on as a substitute for McAllister in the final home game against Gillingham and came off the bench a week later at Millwall. The following season he did not appear in the first team and was released in 2004. He joined Nuneaton Borough where he became a popular player.
