A full-back signed from Blackburn by Harry Storer in the summer of 1949. Great things were expected of him but he failed to win a place with Harry Barratt and Martin McDonnell in good form and it wasn’t until Harry’s injury in 1951 that Les got an extended run in the side, as a wing-half. Sadly it coincided with City’s relegation from Division 2. He was injured at Southend in 1953 and although he recovered he was allowed to join Rugby Town and later played for Bedworth. Prior to coming to Coventry he had played in Blackburn’s First Division side as a right back
