Arguably City’s best youth product of the early 1990s, Lee was on the verge of a very fine career when he suffered a serious knee injury in 1993. He had made his debut as a left back but Bobby Gould moved him into central midfield at the start of the 1992-93 season and he blossomed. Hard tackling and an excellent passer of the ball he matured very quickly and developed an excellent understanding with Stewart Robson as City stayed in the top half of the table for most of the season. Tragedy struck at the pre-season training camp when Lee fell badly on an assault course and damaged knee ligaments. He fought his way back to fitness but the knee was not up to first team football and he was freed in 1995. He later appeared briefly for Southend and is now a painter and decorator in the Coventry area.
