Micky Adams signed the tall Scottish striker from Sunderland for £600,000 in August 2006 and scored on his home debut with a trademark far-post header in a 3-0 win over Norwich. It would be another four months and 19 games before he found the net again and his credibility suffered with City supporters. His form improved after the arrival of Iain Dowie in February 2007 and he put in some impressive performances. This season he scored a great header in the opening day win at Barnsley but scored only one further goal in 14 appearances. His City career suffered as a result of two red cards (against Blackpool and Burnley) either side of Christmas and he sadly became the victim of booing from a small but vocal group of supporters. He joined his old Sunderland boss Mick McCarthy on loan but was in and out of the team. Kevin had joined Sunderland from school and worked his way through to the first team. His reputation was enhanced by his 16 goals in 2003-04 season in an exciting partnership with Kevin Phillips. Kevin has won eight Scottish full caps.
