Black Country-born Rowley was on Wolves’ books in the late 1940s and made three appearances at inside-forward in 1949-50 but was unable to win a regular place in a star-studded squad. Released in 1951 he moved to St Andrews and scored an impressive 20 goals in 42 games over the next four seasons in Division Two despite at one stage being told he would never play again as a result of an injury. City signed him just days after Jack Fairbrother’s departure as manager but could not force his way into the side and played only when Tommy Capel was unavailable. Ken’s injury caught up with him however and he was forced to retire in the summer of 1955. It is known that he played briefly for Bromsgrove Rovers but details of his career from that point are unknown.
