Keyworth had the best years of his career at Leicester City for whom he played over 200 games between 1958 and 1964 after starting his career at Rotherham. He appeared in both the 1961 and 1963 losing FA Cup finals for the Foxes and scored a diving header in the latter game. Freed by Leicester he chose to come to Coventry over nine other clubs, testament to Jimmy Hill’s persuasive skills. He made a scoring debut against his home town club but failed to set the world alight at Highfield Road. One of Hill’s few mistakes, Ken joined Swindon in the summer of 1965 but his career was as good as over. In 1963 just weeks before the FA Cup final he scored a six-minute hat-trick for Leicester against their Wembley opponents Manchester United in a league game. After hanging up his boots he returned to South Yorkshire and became a quantity surveyor at the local steelworks before suffering heart problems.
