The son of the great Peter Schmeichel was signed on loan from Manchester City in March 2008. Kasper went straight into the first team owing to an injury to Andy Marshall and played the final nine games of the season. He gave the defence a more secure look and pulled off some excellent saves especially in the vital home game with Wolves. An excellent shot-stopper with good handling skills Kasper, like many of his teammates did not have a good game at Charlton in the crucial final game. Despite stories that City were interested in buying him he returned to Manchester.
