Julian was a product of Leicester City’s youth scheme and the prodigious youngster won youth and Under 21 caps at a young age as well as playing Premier League football at 18. A fast direct winger with an eye for goal, Julian signed for Aston Villa in 1996 in a £1.5 million deal and he had five good years at Villa Park. In 2001 he joined City, valued at £2 million in the deal that took Hadji to Villa but suffered from persistent injury problems for most of his stay at Coventry. Injured in his first pre-season, he was barely seen for the first two years and had his best period under Eric Black when he looked fit and fast and scored some good goals including a brace in a 4-0 victory over Millwall. He was freed that summer and joined Leeds and in spite of scoring against City he had a torrid time and twelve months later joined Boston United. A year later, his goalscoring touch recovered he joined Darlington for £100,000.
