
Barrett began his professional football career with Reading FC, signing his first contract in October 2015. He made his senior debut in March 2016 against Huddersfield Town. In December 2017, Barrett extended his contract with Reading until 2021 and joined Coventry City on loan from January 2018 for the remainder of the season, making six league appearances during his tenure. After subsequent spells with Aldershot Town, Bristol Rovers, and King's Lynn Town, he returned to Aldershot Town in January 2024, reuniting with manager Tommy Widdrington.
