A young goalkeeper who came through the ranks at City and was a member of Richard Money’s outstanding youth team in 1999. Gary had a daunting debut against Chelsea when Magnus Hedman was injured in the warm up but could not be faulted for either goal in the 0-2 defeat. Loans with Crewe and Kidderminster Harriers followed before a recall to Highfield Road. The following season with the financial crisis biting hard at the club he had a run of eight games at the end of the season. Despite performing well he was released at the end of the season. He signed for Rotherham but was more often than not the substitute and made only 38 appearances in four seasons at Millmoor. The highlight of his time there was a League Cup tie at Arsenal when in a penalty shoot-out he saved two penalties and scored one himself, although the Millers ultimately lost. In 2007 he joined Grimsby and has made a handful of appearances for the club. Gary was the first former Warwick School pupil to play in the Football League.
