Gary McAllister brought the former England B striker to Coventry on loan from Bolton in December 2002. He started well and the team won four of his first five games and he was given a short-term contract. The team’s form then collapsed and they won only once in 21 games. Dean’s scoring touch had deserted him and he managed a sole FA Cup goal, a stunning effort against Cardiff, before joining Rushden on transfer deadline day. Since then he has had played a handful of games for several teams including Wimbledon, Derby, Cambridge United, Weymouth and most recently East London non-league side Redbridge. Dean, who is the twin brother of former Blues defender David, came to prominence with Brentford and Wimbledon before a £3.2 million move to Bolton in 1997.
