A home grown player who was given his opportunity by Gary McAllister in 2003. After several impressive substitute appearances he was given his first start at Gillingham as a right-winger and promptly scored in the 2-0 win. In a traumatic start it was a nightmare for the many youngsters blooded by McAllister and Pipe struggled after some tidy early games. He was not considered good enough for City’s level and the following season he moved to Notts County under City’s former coach Gary Mills. Voted player of the season in 2005-06 he played over 100 games at Meadow Lane before joining Bristol Rovers in 2007. David won one Welsh cap, as a substitute against USA, whilst at City.
