The twin brother of Lee Middleton, Craig was a member of the 1987 FA Youth Cup winning team. In the first leg of the final as a 16-year old he played centre-forward in place of the injured Steve Livingstone and scored City’s goal in the 1-1 draw. Normally a midfield player he made his debut as a substitute in 1990 but had to wait almost two years for his next first team chance in a League Cup tie with Tottenham. Craig never appeared on the winning side for the Sky Blues as his other games were defeats at Old Trafford and Highbury, the latter in 1992 being his final game for the club. In July 1993 he joined Cambridge United on a free transfer and after three good years there he joined Cardiff City for whom he made almost 150 appearances. After a loan spell at Plymouth in 2000 he had two good seasons at Halifax before moving into non-league soccer with Bedworth.
