Colin had a long an illustrious career with Manchester City, Blackburn and Rangers before Gordon Strachan signed him in March 2000 from the Scottish club. Like most City signings from Rangers he was a disaster and played only eleven games. He looked slow and out of condition and found the pace of the Premier League too much. At West Ham he suffered severe facial injuries and was ruled out of the last few games. His next appearance was on the opening day of the following season and he was booed after City’s 1-3 home defeat to Middlesbrough. After only one more substitute appearance he went on loan to Bolton and subsequently signed for them on a permanent basis. His last club as a player was Blackpool and he was also their manager for eighteen months before being sacked in late 2005. Since then he has had a spell as assistant manager at Boston United and as manager of Scottish club Clyde. Despite not making his international debut until the age of 27 he won 52 Scottish caps.
