
Morrison signed a two-year deal with the Sky Blues this summer after leaving Crystal Palace as a free agent. A proven goalscorer with 36 Republic of Ireland caps by virtue of an Irish grandmother, Morrison had two successful spells at Selhurst Park either side of a three-year term at Birmingham City. A product of the Palace youth scheme Clinton made a scoring debut as a substitute for the Eagles in 1998 and scored 72 goals in four seasons before a £4.25 million move to St Andrews. He struggled in the Premiership with Blues but was top scorer with six goals in his first season before becoming a regular substitute. Back at the Palace in 2005 he regained his scoring touch alongside Andrew Johnson and their hatful of goals took the South London side to the play-offs.
