The fair-haired midfield player was a free transfer signing from Bradford City by Gary McAllister in August 2003. The popular Dane struggled to win a place in the team and went on loan to Bournemouth, his first English club, after Christmas that year. Told he was surplus to requirements by Peter Reid, Claus was back in favour after Micky Adams’ arrival and scored a stunning goal at Watford. Arguably the most skilful player at the club his strengths were his probing passes and positive running. After being capped by the Faroe Islands he scored the first league goal at the Ricoh Arena against QPR but struggled for a first team place. In the summer of 2006 he joined Blackpool and helped them to promotion. Now retired from international football, he won 10 caps for the Faroes. Claus once scored in eight consecutive away games for Bradford City including one at Highfield Road.
