A slight but skilful midfield player who had two separate loan spells at Coventry. A product of the Newcastle United Academy he hailed from the same area as Gary McAllister but failed to impress at Highfield Road. His second spell at the end on the 2003-04 season was as he was recovering from a broken leg and during the Eric Black era. Soon after returning to Newcastle he was awarded a full Scottish cap against New Zealand. That summer he joined Motherwell but suffered as serious cruciate injury in the pre-season. After three years at Fir Park he signed for Hibs.
