Signed as a promising left winger from Scottish junior club Lochee Harp in 1970 he made his debut the following season against Chelsea. After the signing of Colin Stein in 1972 Gordon Milne converted him to a striker and his career blossomed. Renowned for his piledriver shots, his goalscoring feats earned him a Scottish under-23 cap and he was close to full honours. Without Stein however Brian struggled for goals and in 1975 he was sold to Leicester for £150,000 where he had three average seasons. Moved to USA in 1978 where he played for New England and Atlanta. Tragically killed in a industrial accident in 1997.
