The former Chelsea and Everton winger was one of five forwards signed by Jimmy Hill in the close season of 1962 for a £2,500 fee. Sadly he was one of few Hill mistakes in the transfer market. Laverick failed to impress and soon lost his place to 18-year old Ronnie Rees. He later made an appearance in a 1-5 League Cup thrashing at Portsmouth, and scored City’s goal but that was the last City fans saw of him.
At the end of the season he joined Corby Town and a year later he moved on to Kings Lynn, then Ashford Town and did stints as player/assistant manager at Canterbury, Ramsgate, Ashford and Folkestone. After hanging up his boots he was a salesman for Smiths Crisps and did some coaching with under 8s at Ashford.
