The former Everton, Birmingham and England striker joined Coventry City from Dutch club NAC Breda in the summer of 1984. After two and a half seasons at Swansea he only stayed at Breda for five months before Bobby Gould persuaded him to return to the English first division at the age of 33. Bob was seen as the perfect target man to lay on chances for the diminutive Terry Gibson but his sharpness had clearly deserted him and in the October Gould signed Cyrille Regis. He started only 12 games with two sub appearances scoring two goals and he left Coventry in the summer of 1985 to join Lincoln City. Bob had a good scoring record against the Sky Blues before joining them with 13 goals for Birmingham, Everton and Swansea including a hat-trick in a 6-0 thrashing at Goodison Park in 1977. Bob won 12 full caps for England, scoring five goals and scored 138 goals for Everton.
