Micky Adams signed the former Norwich, Ipswich and Millwall goalkeeper in 2006, initially as cover for Marton Fulop but when the Hungarian’s move to City failed to materialise Andy became first-choice and did so well he was voted fans player of the year. Andy came through the ranks at Norwich and made his debut as a 19-year old. One of his earliest games was an FA Cup tie at Highfield Road where he performed heroics to earn the Canaries a replay. After becoming first-choice at Carrow Road in 1997 he made 219 appearances and was very popular with the supporters. All that changed in 2001 when he signed for their bitter East Anglian rivals Ipswich Town and he has been vilified ever since by the Norwich faithful. The move was not a great success and he found it hard to overcome the Portman Road crowd who did not like the fact that he was an ex-Canary. In 2004 he joined Millwall, managed by Dennis Wise and helped them reach the FA Cup final that year where they lost to Manchester United. Andy had injury problems after arriving at Coventry, notably a knee injury in his first season and then a back problem.
