Impey had played under Micky Adams at Leicester and Adams signed him on a non-contract basis in September 2005. Most of his appearances were from the bench and of the five starts he made all the games were lost. His period at Coventry was his final season in League football and he normally played as a right-back. He made his name at QPR playing over 200 games for the Londoners and after a brief spell at West Ham was a £1.6 million signing for Leicester and he was in Martin O’Neill’s team that won the League Cup in 2000. He won one England under 21 cap.
