2022-23 kits
variations
This was the fourth season of Hummel kits.
Boyle Sports were the front of shirt sponsors for the third season, XL Motors were on the back of the shirts for the second season, and G&R Scaffolding were on the shorts for the third season but swapped legs. An updated font and numbers appeared on the back of the shirts, the EFL‘s new charity partner the British Red Cross‘s logo appeared on the numbers.
Championship SkyBet sleeve patches were also updated, they were embossed and the equality message was now ‘Together’ on the right sleeve and the gambling awareness message ‘Take Time To Think’ was on the left. For the Play-Off games a special sleeve patch was worn in place of the Championship version on the right arm, the ‘Together’ message still appeared underneath but appeared to have been missed off some players shirts.
A newly embossed FA Cup sleeve patch was worn for the 3rd Round game versus Wrexham. City again wore no Carabao Cup patches, sticking with their regular Championship set for their 1st Round loss.
The home shirt was another hugely popular design. It had a bespoke shirt reworking the iconic ‘tramlines’ Admiral kit from the late 1970’s. Unlike the 70’s kit the crest was placed centrally and the tramlines didn’t extend onto the shorts. The tramlines included the pattern from the stained-glass windows of Coventry Cathedral to mark the 60th anniversary of the consecration in 1962. The inside the neck of the shirt featured the words ‘In Our Coventry Homes’ from the terrace song and a continuation of the stained glass design. The kit was announced on 25th May 2022.
This all white kit design featured a bespoke shirt with a black design on the sleeves – a pattern from the stained-glass windows of Coventry Cathedral. A black and white crest was used to compliment the design and the inside neck of the shirt featured the words ‘We Speak with an Accent Exceedingly Rare’ from the ‘In Our Coventry Homes’ terrace song and a continuation of the stained glass design.
This was the first time City had produced solely short sleeve goalkeeper kits. This was the best selling goalkeeper shirt ever in the fourth season of the popular link up with Hummel. The kit was announced on 25th May 2022.
The second keeper kit was to the same template but an all black design with a rainbow gradient design on the sleeves. This was also only produced with short sleeves. The kit was announced on 30th June 2022.
The third keeper kit was all green featuring a half and half geometric design with converging diagonal stripes meeting in the middle. The kit was not officially announced but became available to buy in the club shop from 17th January 2023.
The away kit was purple and yellow featuring a bespoke shirt design revisiting the popular colours of the 1995-96 Pony and the 1998-99 Le Coq Sportif away kits. The vertical stripes again included a pattern from the stained-glass windows of Coventry Cathedral. Inside the neck of the shirt featured the words ‘You Want a Cathedral’ from the ‘In Our Coventry Homes’ terrace song and a continuation of the stained glass design. The kit was announced on 29th June 2022.
The third kit was all black featuring a bespoke shirt based on the Baptistery Window’s brightly coloured glass panels at Coventry Cathedral. Inside the neck of the shirt featured the words ‘We’ve Got One to Spare’ from the ‘In Our Coventry Homes’ terrace song and a continuation of the stained glass design. The kit was announced on 26th August 2022.
Long sleeve versions of the outfield shirts were available for the public to buy but the players only wore the short sleeved versions.
